# Staking

On staking, participants pay the usual gas fee in SOL to stake into the smart contract, plus an additional small fee of 1,000 lamports, which at the [time of writing](https://www.solconverter.com/) is worth 0.00001  SOL

On every stake Nezha performs an anti-money laundering (AML) check as an intermediate step. The small fee covers the processing cost of the two step staking process.
